Atletico Madrid will be out to secure third place when they host Real Sociedad in the final round of La Liga matches this Sunday. In the run up to the match, Atletico have bagged 69 points and are in third place as Real Sociedad, who have so far secured 55 points, stay sixth. Atletico will be seeking a win in this game, which will see them beat Sevilla in the chase for a third placed finish. Atletico lead Sevilla  (who host Valencia in their final game) by two points but if finishing level on points, Sevilla would take third due to their head-to-head results. They enhanced their chances with a 2-0 away win over Europa League aspirants Getafe. In the last 15 matches, Atletico have not tasted defeat, winning nine and drawing six and in their 18 home matches this season in La Liga, they have only lost to Barcelona. They have lost four times in the league this season and have the second best defence after Real Madrid. Having collected 41 points in their home matches this season, they are the third best performing home team, after Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Madrid side has 10 clean sheets in its 18 home league matches.

Real Sociedad, on their part, hope to beat competition from Getafe, Valencia and Granada for the final Europa League slot and to be sure of this, they have to beat Atletico. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with Sevilla in their final home match, which handed them their first clean sheet in the 10 matches since football resumed. It has not been a good ride for Sociedad in the recent matches; they have won just two games after lockdown and hope to finish well at a tough venue for visiting teams. They have won seven of their 18 away matches in the league while eight of their 14 losses this season have come away from home. Heading to this clash, Sociedad have no clean sheet in nine away league matches and have conceded two or more goals in five of those. They will be seeking a double over Atletico Madrid after registering a 2-0 win in the first meeting this season. Five of the last seven meetings between these two sides have yielded under 2.5 goals and both sides have scored in just one of the seven.
