Atletico Madrid need five points from their remaining two matches to claim their first La Liga title since 2014. They will be at home to take on Osasuna in Round 37 of the league and going to the game, they have 80 points, two ahead of closest rivals, Real Madrid. Atletico lead in a three-way battle for the La Liga title and luck has played a big role in the team being on top at this stage of the season. A mix of favorable results and misfortunes in Real Madrid and Barcelona’s matches in recent times have favored Atletico Madrid at a time they were experiencing a slump in their matches. Atletico held off moments of late pressure in their last game to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 for their third straight unbeaten outing. They have four wins in the last seven matches and lost just once. Four of their last six matches have produced clean sheets. No team has a better home run in La Liga than Atletico – they have gained 45 of their 80 points in home matches.

Osasuna, placed 11th with 44 points, overcame late pressure as well to register a 3-2 win over Cadiz in their last game. They can best finish in eighth place and as such they are only playing for pride, with European football already beyond reach. Osasuna’s win over Cadiz marked their first victory in four league matches but they still have issues in defence that they need to address. In the last five matches they have no clean sheet and in the last four they have conceded two goals in each. They head to this clash with four of their last five matches having seen over 2.5 goals scored but they have done fairly well in attack too, netting twice in three of their last five matches. Away from home, Osasuna have no win in the last three matches, and each of them has ended in the team conceding two goals. They haven’t had a very good run at home, with just four wins in 18 league matches this season.
