An interesting clash between two high-flying teams is brewing up in the 2024-25 La Liga campaign as Athletic Bilbao take on Celta Vigo. This match will be played at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on Sunday, and our prediction is a high-scoring affair.

Athletic are fifth in the standings with ten points, while Celta are right behind them with nine points. Athletic have played six matches compared to five for most teams around them, including their visitors.

The hosts have won three of their last four league matches after starting the campaign with a draw and loss. They won their last two matches against Las Palmas and Leganes, respectively. While that gives them a slight edge on form, Celta aren’t doing too bad either. The visitors have three wins and two losses in the campaign, but both those defeats have come in their last three matches.

The 4-3 defeat at Villarreal and a 3-2 loss to Osasuna have been the low points of their campaign so far, but Celta have been consistent with their goal scoring. They already have netted 13 goals, which is the third-best tally behind Barcelona and Villarreal. That said, they have also conceded ten goals, which is worse than all sides bar Real Valladolid.
