Aston Villa keep trying to escape a relegation battle but keep getting dragged into it. They start the weekend in 17th place just one above the bottom three and host Newcastle who are 13th but four points above Villa. This game takes place on Monday but there's no chance of Villa being in the bottom three by the time it starts due to their better goal difference. Villa had won two straight league games but since then have lost three in a row making seven defeats already this season. They are still only six points off the Europa League place, so a couple of wins would change their season. Home form has seen Villa win two, draw two and lose to Bournemouth and Liverpool. Each one of their last three home league games have had over 2.5 goals scored in them.

Newcastle United are doing their best to get out of another battle to avoid relegation. They start the weekend seven points clear of the bottom three and only two behind fifth place. Newcastle have earned 10 points from their last five games, the only loss being away to Chelsea. A form guide for those past five games has them fourth in the table. Away form is still a worry though with three of the last four games being lost. Their last away match was won though when beating West Ham 3-2. A bet on over 2.5 goals being scored in this game looks a potential winner.
