Aston Villa will be playing their second straight home game and will be counting on the Villa Park faithful to spur them on as they go to Match Day 3 seeking the first win of the season. One factor they will need to fix as a matter of urgency is their defence; while the attack has been doing its job, the defence has been a letdown. Villa have scored in each of their last five matches, drawing back to the preseason friendly matches, but have no clean sheet. The opening two losses in the league extend their winless run in the league to 15 matches, 14 of these being losses and they have just one clean sheet to show. Everton have also not been scoring a lot of goals but they will be comfortable as long as they can put the ball at the back of the net, having themselves managed six straight clean sheets. Everton are unbeaten in six league matches and have just one loss in 10. In their last 10 matches they have picked six wins and eight clean sheets. Only two of their last 10 league matches have produces over 2.5 goals. Everton are however winless in their last four away league matches, the last three being straight draws. They have just four wins in their last 15 away matches in the Premier League, and lost seven. In the last six meetings between these two sides, Everton have picked five wins and Villa one and in the total 177 meetings, Villa have 65 wins and Everton 63.
