The past few weeks have seen Arsenal transformed from relegation candiates to potentially finishing in the top four. They are eighth after beating Southampton and now host second placed Manchester United.  Arsenal have picked up 16 points from their last six games (itself more than any of the bottom three have earned all season). They are now only five points behind the final Champions League place, something their fans could have only dreamt of in December. However, it is important to look at who those points have come against. It's been a mixture of teams in the bottom half of the table and sides such as Chelsea and Southampton who are struggling for form. This game against Manchester United will show us just what the Gunners are capable of. Home form hasn't been anywhere near their usual standard this season. Only four wins out of ten and four defeats. The recent home draw with Crystal Palace indicates a bit more work is needed to turn Arsenal into a potential top four club again. It's not known at the time of writing this preview wihether Arsenal will have Aubameyang back for this game. He's missed the last two for personal reasons.

Manchester United suffered a shock home league defeat to bottom side Sheffield United on Wednesday evening. They start the weekend in second place behind local rivals Manchester City. The gap is likely to be four points by the time this game begins. That's if City can do what United couldn't and beat the Blades at home. The defeat ended a run of 13 league games unbeaten since they lost at home to Arsenal at the start of November. It was their fourth home league loss of the season, they'll hope that poor early season Old Trafford form hasn't returned.  Away fom has played an important part in their rise to being title challengers. It was needed when their home results were poor.. United have won eight out of ten away league games this season with 24 goals scored. They have scored at least twice in all but two of their 14 away fixtures.  We'll find out just how good the Arsenal defence is this weekend and how United will react to that shock loss. A bet on both teams to score is the suggested wager.
