Top matches are lined up in the Premier League when action resumes after the international break, and among them, Arsenal will be at home to take on reigning champions, Liverpool. This will for sure be one of most anticipated games, with the two battling for European slots. Hosts Arsenal are ninth with 42 points while Liverpool are seventh on 46 points. Ahead of this game, Arsenal are seven points below the UEFA League spot and will move to within a point of Liverpool with a win here. In their last match, Arsenal had an impressive comeback from three goals down to draw 3-3 with West Ham United and will be hoping to replicate their second half performance in that game. They have four wins, and one loss in the last seven matches, while they’re unbeaten in the last four league matches. Arsenal have lost their defensive mettle and they’ve suffered due to this in recent matches; both sides have scored in five of their last six league matches and Arsenal have managed just five clean sheets in 15 matches. The Gunners have been consistent in attack, failing to score in only four of their last league 15 matches and they’ve scored two or more goals in three of the last five home matches. They may be forced to do without two of their most productive forwards – Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka who are doubtful with injury.

Liverpool have had a tough run lately but head here with two straight wins and will be hoping to have a more stable run in the Premier League. Being 25 points below league leaders Manchester City, it is safe to say they’ve been dethroned and can only eye a Champions League slot at best. The Reds are five points below the last Champions League slot and head here with four wins and six losses in the last 10 matches. In the league, they’ve managed just six points from a possible 24 in the last eight matches and they have just four wins in 15 league matches, while they’ve failed to score in three of five matches. It has been better for them away from home, with four wins in the last five in the league and three of those have produced over 2.5 goals with the Reds scoring two or more in three of the last five away league matches. While a number of key players are still out injured, Liverpool will be glad to have an in-form Diogo Jota, whose scoring form also saw him grab three goals for Portugal in the international week.
