Arsenal are in great form ahead of their home match against Leicester City in the Premier League. The Gunners are in a commanding position in the top four race, being fourth with 48 points and three games in hand. Their opponents, Leicester City, are 12th with 33 points. Arsenal are coming from a run of four straight wins and five matches unbeaten; they have only the Premier League to focus on and so far they are doing well. A hard fought 3-2 win over Watford in their last game saw them leap to fourth place. They are just five points behind third placed Chelsea, with a game in hand so they will have a reason to want three points so badly here. The Gunners may have a boost in the return of their lead scorer Emile Smith-Rowe after missing the last two games, but defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is still out injured. Ahead of this game, Arsenal have scored two or more goals in their last three matches, and both teams have scored in these three games. They’ve only failed to score once in their last five matches and at home, they have nine wins, and a loss in 12 league matches.

Leicester City have in the recent meetings with Arsenal drifted to the underdog status; they’ve won once and lost three times in the last five matches. This game will particularly be tough for them because they go into a Europa Conference League game first, so their rest time will be reduced. It will also pass as a big blow for Leicester City the confirmation that Jamie Vardy is injured and out of this game. The striker has scored 11 times in the last 14 matches against Arsenal, and this will be a good thing for the Gunners. He isn’t the only key player out; Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne are also out with injury while Wesley Fofana remains doubtful.
