Arsenal fans are facing a rather different kind of festive period. They are down in 15th place in the table and are desperate to get a home win over fourth placed Chelsea. The Gunners are usually talking of winning the title or at least qualifying for the Champions League. Now they are wondering if next season could see them playing league games against Barnsley and QPR. Arsenal are only four points above the relegation zone and have to upcoming games against sides below them. Usually, Arsenal can depend on their home league form but not this season. They have the 16th best home record in the Premier League with just two wins in seven games and four defeats. Not just that but they lost 4-1 at home to Manchester City in the EFL Cup in midweek. Their last home league victory was against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United. The only one of their last five home league fixtures at the Emirates that wasn't lost was the 1-1 draw with Southampton.  The collapse of their home form is a big surprise, it’s usually on their travels that they struggle. Arsenal had won nine out of 11 home league games before this run of four losses and a draw/. The Gunners have gone ten home league matches since their last clean sheet with both teams scoring in seven of those games. Six of the last nine home Premier League games have had over 2.5 goals scored in them.

Chelsea had been unbeaten in their first five away league games of the season with 11 points earned. However, the last two have seen them lose at Everton and Wolves. They bounced back to form with a 3-0 home win over West Ham United on Monday. That took them to fifth, a point behind Everton in fourth and six behind leaders Liverpool. Three times this season Chelsea have scored three goals in their away league matches. They don’t have a great record when visiting Arsenal in the Premier League. Only two of the last seven have been won. Last year saw an improvement though with an away win and home draw. Both teams have scored in five of the last six matches played between these two clubs in all competitions and four of the last five in the Premier League. It's not often they go to the Emirates odds on to win the match. It's hard to see the fragile Arsenal defence coping with the power that Chelsea possess. Another away win for Chelsea is the prediction and a step nearer the exit for Mikel Arteta.
