The past few weeks have not been the best for Arsenal; after their loss to West Ham United, which dented their top four hopes, they restored some confidence with the win over Chelsea but immediately afterwards, they fell to Manchester United in the FA Cup. They know they can’t afford to drop points against Cardiff, with Manchester United having caught up with them on the log and a trip to Manchester City in the horizon. With a run of 11 unbeaten home matches in the league, Arsenal will approach this game in confidence and having posted five straight league wins at their backyard, they are favorites for a win here, but with Arsenal it is never that direct. Three of Arsenal’s last five league matches at home have produced over 2.5 goals, with the Gunners managing two clean sheets. Cardiff on the other hand, have no win in their last four matches, losing three and drawing one. They were eliminated from the FA Cup by Gillingham and the advantage they get going to this game is that they didn’t have an FA Cup game last week and are very fresh, going to the game from a 10 – day rest. They hope to make it count, especially in attack, as they have not scored a goal in the last four matches. Away from home they have one win in 12 matches, and have picked nine losses in the process. Arsenal are unbeaten in eight straight matches against Cardiff and in 36 meetings, they have 16 wins and Cardiff eight.
