Arsenal can't qualify for the Champions League but here they are in the International Champions Cup. They have already had their problems ahead of their tour of America with captain Laurent Koscielny refusing to travel as he seeks a move away from the Emirates. The Gunners have already played a friendly against Colorado Rapids winning that game 3-0. It was a virtual reserve team played in that match with the leading lights on the subs bench. Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang didn't make it onto the pitch until the 78th minute. Hopefully the paying public didn't fork out too much to see that game. A stronger line-up is expected to play in this opening International Champions Cup game.

Unlike their opponents, Bayern Munich actually are champions. After a slow start last season, they ended up winning the German Bundesliga title for the seventh season in a row. They only finished two points ahead of early leaders Borussia Dortmund but a form guide for the last 20 games of the season had them earning ten more points than any other side. Bayern have been busy in the transfer market with several players joining and some well known faces leaving. Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez have been signed to bolster the defence with James Rodriguez, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Mats Hummels making their departures. This is their first game of the season so it'll be interesting to see the line-up and how fit they are. Munich ended last season in top form and can get a win over the inconsistent Gunners.
