The tight race for the Super Lig title ended in Besiktas’ favor, and they will be hoping to win a double when they take on Antalyaspor in the Turkish Cup final. A massive 40 points separated the two sides in the Super Lig, with Besiktas finishing top as Antalyaspor just managed to escape relegation, finishing four points above. There’s all the indication this will be an easier game but then that is never a guarantee, as Besiktas are winless in their last three competitive meetings with Antalyaspor. In the two meetings this season, the two sides have registered 1-1 draws home and away, while Antalyaspor won the earlier one 2-1. Both sides have scored in the last seven meetings. Besiktas definitely have the better form going to this game and having lost just three of their 18 matches, will go to this game as the favorites. This coming right after winning the Super Lig title should really motivate them. Last season Besiktas couldn’t make it past the quarter finals and this season they haven’t had a smooth run in this competition. In the last two rounds they had to go past 90 minutes to advance; they drew with Konyaspor and needed post match penalties, then went to extra time before seeing off Istanbul Basaksehir.
