This Thursday, World number 49 Karolina Muchova and Anna Blinkova, ranked 78th, will face off at the China Open. Follow on for our prediction of this match. 

Their first career meeting will be in the first round and the winner will take on 30th seed Yuan Yue in the second round. Blinkova is looking to get back to winning ways.  

The Russian lost her last nine matches, the latest five of which were on hard courts. She was eliminated in the first round in Monastir in her last outing. 

Blinkova has played in Beijing twice before and last year she was able to win her opener before falling in the second round. So far in 2024, the former world number 34 has managed just 11 wins in 36 outings. She is currently placed 89th in the live ranking.

Karolina Muchova has returned to the tour after a three-week break. The Czech star was last on the court at the US Open where she produced a second successive semi-final finish. 

Muchova had a belated start to the year due to fitness concerns, and started her season in Eastbourne during the grass campaign. She has looked like a new player, putting behind her the long injury layoff. 

Muchova has won over 200 matches in her career. She has claimed 12 wins in 17 outings this season and only twice has she lost an opening-round match. This year’s finalist in Palermo will begin her second appearance in Beijing placed 45th in the live ranking.
