Top seed Alexander Zverev is up against 32nd-seeded Matteo Arnaldi in the last 32 of the Canadian Open. Zverev is bidding to win this outdoor hard court tournament for the second time. Here's our match prediction.
It was in 2017 that Zverev won this title and if he wins this Masters event, it'll be his first hard court Championship victory of 2025. His best run on this surface was being the runner-up to Jannik Sinner at this year's Australian Open.
The German beat Adam Walton in straight sets in his only match so far this week in Toronto. He's third in the live rankings but can't climb any higher even if winning this tournament. His one previous match against Arnaldi was on this surface in Acapulco five months ago and won by Zverev in three sets.
Next up for the winner of this match is either 14th seed Francisco Cerundolo or unseeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
Matteo Arnaldi took just over two hours to beat Tristan Skoolkate in round two and needed three sets. The 24-year-old is up to 36th in the live rankings. He has reached one hard court semi-final and made the last four in last year's Canadian Open.
