Qualifier Terence Atmane faces unseeded Aleksandar Kovacevic in round one of the Shanghai Masters. The winner will face seventh seed Taylor Fritz in round two of his hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.
Atmane is 161st in the live rankings and had to win two matches to qualify for the main draw of this Masters tournament. The Frenchman ran into trouble in his final qualifier, needing to come from a set down to beat Adam Walton.
Only once this year has Atmane won two matches in the main draw of an ATP Tour event. That was in the Rome Masters but that was played on clay. He has had some success this year but on the Challenger Tour.
The 22-year-old recently reached a hard court Challenger Tour quarter-final but his best performance was a run to the final in July. Five of his last seven matches have gone to a final set.
