Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Casper Ruud Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open

Fresh from winning the Geneva Open, Casper Ruud looks to have another deep run at Roland Garros. Ruud is seeded seventh and takes on unseeded Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina in round two of this outdoor clay court Grand Slam. Waiting in round three for the winner is either unseeded Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech or the 28th seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Ruud has a great recent record at Roland Garros and has been the losing finalist in each of the past two years. Clay is his best surface and he's never got past round three in any other Grand Slam. Ruud is the world number seven but down to 11th in the live rankings due to all the points  he's defending after reaching the 2023 final. In the ATP Race, he's in fourth place and has shown excellent form on clay. He won the titles in both Barcelona and Geneva and also got to the final in Monte Carlo and the last four in Estoril.  Round one at Roland Garros saw him beat the qualifier Felipe Meligenie Alves in straight sets.

Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina is 2-2 in previous matches against Ruud. Just one of those has been on clay and it was in this tournament three years ago with Davidovich-Fokina winning in five sets. The Spaniard reached the last eight that year but hasn't got past round three since at Roland Garros. He's 32nd in the latest published list but only 51st in the ATP Race. On clay this year, he'd only won two out of six matches before Roland Garros. One of those wins was a walkover against Tomas Machac. He beat the qualifier Valentin Vacherot in round one but dropped the first set. Two quarter-finals have been reached this year but both were on hard courts. We tip Ruud to win this in straight sets.
