Ajax were champions of Europe several decades ago but they are five games away from winning the Champions League. They beat Real Madrid in the last 16 but had to do it the hard way after losing the home first leg 2-1. Then they stunned their opponents with a 4-1 away win and it was Ajax through to the last eight and bye bye to another Real Madrid manager. Ajax had to beat Dinamo Kiev to get through to the group stages but then finished second behind Bayern Munich drawing both of their games against the German champions. Home form has seen them only lose to Real Madrid in their last ten games in the Champions League.

Juventus also had to come from behind to reach the quarter-finals. They lost 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid but a brilliant performance from Cristiano Ronaldo saw them win the home leg 3-0 to reach the last eight. They are miles clear at the top of Serie A so can concentrate on winning the Champions League. They had to get past Manchester United and Valencia to reach the last 16  The Italian champions had won five away Champions League away games in a row before losing to Young Boys (weakened side played as they'd already qualified) and Atletico Madrid.
