Ajax are top of this Champions League group after two games but only on goal difference from Bayern Munich. The Dutch team got their campaign off to a good start with a comfortable 3-0 home win over AEK Athens (who have lost both their group games) but had to wait until the 46th minute to beat the deadlock. They then went to Bayern Munich and took a surprise lead,but came home with a 1-1 draw. Two games against Benfica now await them and a couple of good results will give them every chance of reaching the last sixteen. Current form is good with nine goals in their last two Dutch league games but despite being second in the table, they are eight points behind leaders PSV. Ajax have won their last six home league and cup games with 22 goals being scored and just one goal scored with four straight clean sheets. 

A win in this game will take Benfica above Ajax in the group. They have three points from their first two games which is much better than last season when they lost all six games scoring just once. This season's campaign began with a home defeat by Bayern Munich but they then won 3-2 away at AEK Athens, their second away win in Greece this year. They took an early 2-0 lead in that game before being pegged back to 2-2. A winner 16 minutes from time gave the the three points but this will be a lot tougher. Ajax are proving difficult to beat at home and can win this game.
