League Two AFC Wimbledon host Premier League Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup Second Round at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this week. Will the Wombles spring an upset against what is likely to be a much-rotated Tractor Boys? Let's look closer at our prediction for this intriguing cup match!
Johnnie Jackson's AFC Wimbledon lie eighth in League Two with six points from their opening three games. They defeated Bromley 2-1 away from home in the First Round of the Carabao Cup and, over the weekend, were also victorious on the road, winning 1-0 away to Cheltenham Town.
The fixture computer handed their opponents, Ipswich Town, a nightmare start in the Premier League. They began with a 2-0 opening-day defeat at home to Liverpool before succumbing 4-1 away to Manchester City in their second game of the season this past weekend.
These two teams met as recently as January in the FA Cup Third Round at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. It was Ipswich that came out on top, winning 3-1. In fact, in the eight games between the teams, Ipswich have won four with the Dons winning just the once. Three games have ended all-square.
A win for AFC Wimbledon here would see them reach the Third Round of the competition for just the second time. Ipswich's best performance is reaching the semi-finals of the tournament, which they achieved in the 1981/82, 2000/01 and 2010/11 seasons - losing on all three occasions.

Our AFC Wimbledon vs Ipswich Town Prediction
Our prediction for AFC Wimbledon vs. Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup Second Round is: Both Teams to Score.
This is a tricky one to predict. Wimbledon have won four of five games this season and will likely be at full strength for this game. Ipswich have lost both games, albeit to Liverpool and Man City, and will likely rest players. So the obvious pick of an Ipswich win isn't so obvious. However, recent games between the two have both seen ten goals scored, with teams scoring in two of the three games, including the most recent cup game between the two in the FA Cup back in January.
All tips are fully researched and given in good faith, but profits cannot be guaranteed.
