The Greek Super League Championship Division is well underway and AEK Athens faces Panathinaikos in round five of six with both desperately needing a win. Both trail Olympiacos and PAOK Salonika in the four-team Championship table and this match represents a last-chance saloon, to avoid finishing bottom of the four-team mini-tournament. What will our prediction be for this derby match?

In the regular season, AEK Athens finished second to Olympiacos, and Panathinaikos finished third. However, in the Championship round, AEK Athens has lost all four games, while Panathinaikos have won only their home games, losing both their away fixtures to sit behind Olympiacos and PAOK in the four-team table. Olympiacos are confirmed as Champions, however, and Panathinaikos are hanging on to second in the full league table, only a point ahead now of the chasing PAOK.

It has been a miserable four games for AEK in the Championship round, losing 3-2 at home to PAOK, then 3-1 away to Panathinakos, 1-0 away to Olympiacos and then Olympiacos defeated AEK 2-0 on AEK's home patch in their most recent game.

Panathinaikos are dogged with issues away from home. At home, they have beat both AEK Athens and PAOK 3-1 in the Championship round, but lost 4-2 away to Olympiacos and 2-1 at PAOK in their most recent fixture.
