Seventh place and a negative goal difference was enough to get Burnley into the Europa League for the first time. That says a lot about the depth of quality in the Premier League but now Burnley start their bid to reach the group stages. They have probably been dreaming of some trip to some sunny part of Europe but end up in Aberdeen for a tricky tie.  Aberdeen have never made it past the third qualifying round of the Europa League in five previous attempts but are undefeated in their last eight home matches in this competition. However, they have only won one of their last six on their travels so Burnley will feel a narrow defeat, draw or win should have them qualifying for the next round.

Burnley's seventh place in the Premier League was only 46 points behind the league leaders and only 21 above the relegation zone. Their 38 league games only produced 75 goals and 24 out of 38 matches had under 2.5 goals scored in them. They're not the most exciting of teams to watch but know how to grind out a result so this kind of situation could be ideal for them. The English league is much stronger than that in Scotland but this is a tricky game to predict so early in the season and the best bet is to go for under 2.5 goals to be scored.
