The Pole made the last four in Marseille and was also a quarterfinalist in Melbourne and Dubai. He is highly favoured to advance to the final. Hurkacz is having his best-ever campaign in Estoril and before this season, he had never gone past the second round. This run has nudged him up one place in the live ranking to ninth. The 27-year-old isn’t a dominant player on clay like Garin but hasn’t struggled on the surface. He has won both of his clay fixtures this season in straight sets. Hurkacz defeated the qualifier Pablo Llamas Ruiz in the quarterfinals by the loss of 10 games.
