York City bid to cause an upset when hosting Wigan Athletic (14th in League One) in the FA Cup second round. The National League side are 19th in the table and only a point above the relegation zone. For this weekend they put their league worries to one side, even though they could end it in the bottom four. This game is all about trying to make it into the FA Cup third round for the first time since the 2010-11 season. This is the first time they've made it past round one since that run to the third round. To get this far, City have beaten two fellow non-league clubs, Needham Market and Chester but needed a replay on both occasions. Recent form has seen the Minstermen lose only one of their last seven games. At home, City have also been beaten in just one of their last seven fixtures.
Wigan Athletic won the FA Cup in 2013 but were relegated from the Premier League just days later. They've reached a quarter final and one last four appearance since that famous win at Wembley. The past few seasons have seen them yo-yoing between the Championship and League One. They're currently in League One and 11 points behind the promotion play-offs but just six above the drop zone. Athletic won 2-0 at Exeter City in the first round of this season's FA Cup. Recent form is good with no losses in their last six games and one loss in the last 11. On the road, Wigan are unbeaten in their last five fixtures and we tip them to win this FA Cup tie.
