Wrexham will continue with their quest for promotion to the Championship with a League One home game against Reading on Saturday. This match will mark the first meeting between the teams since 2001. Read on for our prediction on this Match Day 3 outing.
The Red Dragons will be looking to return to winning ways after a loss and a draw in the last two matches. The newly promoted side played to a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers last time out. That was a welcome recovery after falling 4-2 to a strong Sheffield United side in the League Cup.
The one quality they carry into this game is their ability in attack. They scored five times in their opening three matches of the season. However, Wrexham conceded six goals in those three matches and will be looking to do better defensively.
Reading are also dealing with an early exit from the League Cup, having lost on post-match penalties against Colchester United. Their effort to rise from 2-0 down in that game didn’t yield much following elimination.
The visitors, however, responded with two wins and will approach this game with some confidence. In their most recent game, they beat West Ham United U21 3-1 in the EFL Trophy. That win, after earlier overcoming Wigan Athletic 2-0 in the league, symbolizes their rise from a slow start.
Notably, Reading’s first two games of the season, which they failed to win, were away from home. Like their hosts, Reading have shown impressive abilities in attack. They scored in all their four matches but have just one clean sheet.

Our Wrexham vs Reading Prediction
These two sides have had contrasting starts to the season; doing well in the league but suffering early cup exits. Ahead of their first meeting in over 20 years, neither team has the clear edge. Wrexham come here without a win in their last two matches but their first two portrayed a side good in attack.
They scored five times in their opening two games and conceded six goals. Reading have also shown inconsistency in defence this season though they scored in all their four matches thus far. With such stats, our prediction for Wrexham v Reading is for over 2.5 goals and both teams to score.
2 Goals Ahead Early Payout Offer
One of the worst feelings when placing a football bet is when the team that you have backed has gone into a multiple-goal lead only to be clawed back to a draw or to lose the game in question. This is something that bet365 has rectified for their bettors courtesy of this offer. If the team that you backed takes a two-goal lead your bet will be paid out as a winner. That is any two-goal lead so 2-0, 3-1, 4-2 etc will all be paid out early as a winner if your team is in that position. This is available in 80 different competitions including the major leagues across Europe and can be played on the full-time result market. Singles and multiples are both valid for this offer but you cannot bet on enhanced price markets. As with most promotions, if you cash out a bet in full, the bet will no longer be available for the offer in question. It also cannot be used if you bet on the draw on a game.
All tips are fully researched and given in good faith, but profits cannot be guaranteed.
