The Central Division is hotting up and the 41-19-5 Winnipeg Jets will be looking for the two points as they take on the 23-39-3 Anaheim Ducks early on Saturday morning. Just two points separate the top three teams in the Central but they will all be looking over their shoulder at the Nashville Predators who are gaining ground hand over fist. The Preds beat Winnipeg 2-4 early on Thursday morning to continue the inconsistent run from the Jets. They have shut out the Seattle Kraken and the Washington Capitals in their last four games but got shut out themselves in Vancouver against the Canucks. They are 2-0 against the Ducks this season so will view this as the perfect opportunity to pick up an important win and keep pushing on in the standings but they need to find their early season form again to play a part in the postseason.
This will be the second half of a back-to-back situation for the Ducks who are in Minnesota the day before to take on the Wild. They have three straight losses heading into Minnesota, conceding 19 goals in those three games. Their last game was a 2-7 defeat in Chicago against a Blackhawks team that had the fewest points in the NHL ahead of that game. The collapse at the back has come at the same time as they have struggled to find the net, scoring just eight times in their last five games and they head into Winnipeg to take on the second-best defence in the league. It looks like a case of trying to keep things as close as possible for as long as possible.
