West Bromwich Albion will enter Match Day 40 of the Championship with a home match against Watford. Ahead of this game, West Brom are fifth in the standings, nine places ahead of Watford. A promotion playoff place is all West Brom are playing for and at the moment, it all seems to be great. However, being on 67 points, they are just seven ahead of seventh placed Coventry, and having played a game more. The stakes here are thus high, and the Baggies will want to improve on their 1-1 draw with Millwall on Friday. Coming here, Watford have 49 points, 10 ahead of the relegation zone. While they aren’t safe yet, there’s much promise to suggest they’ll avoid the relegation scrap. It hasn’t been a great run for them this season, as the standings clearly suggest. With just two wins in 14 matches in all competitions, they won’t be favorites on this trip. Watford have suffered defeats in six of their last 10 matches. The silver lining for them is a slightly better away run in the Championship. Watford have six wins in 11 away league matches, and managed clean sheets in three of the last five. In their last six matches against West Bromwich Albion, Watford are unbeaten, winning three.
