West Bromwich Albion will begin their FA Cup campaign in the third round and will host Aldershot Town on Sunday. This will be the very first meeting between these two sides who are three divisions apart. West Brom have qualified from this round of the competition four times in the last six seasons. Last season was one of those times. They will hope to keep this going as they seek to build momentum after recent struggles. Carlos Corberan’s men, who are in the playoff hunt in the Championship, have won just three times in their last eight outings. They have lost four times with the most recent defeat coming last time out. The Baggies were defeated 1-0 away to Swansea to see a two-game winning run come to an end.
Aldershot Town began their campaign in the qualifying rounds and have won three of the four matches they have played. They defeated Stockport County 1-0 in a replay after the first match had ended 2-2 to qualify for this round. The fifth-tier side has twice reached the fifth round of the FA Cup in its history. They will be hoping to set a new record this season. Tommy Widdrington’s men, who are in the promotion hunt in the National League, got back to winning ways last time out. They edged Woking in a five-goal thriller to end a run of three successive games without a win.
