Watford and Sheffield Wednesday don’t have much to play for as they meet on matchday 46 in the Championship. The two clubs sit side by side in the standings, Sheffield 12th and Watford 13th, separated by a point. We have the match prediction below.

Watford will be seeking a first win in five matches to give home fans a better finish to a tough season. They have suffered four straight defeats coming into this clash.

The fact that they can’t finish in the playoff positions has largely been due to such form. Their latest outing ended in a 2-1 away loss at Blackburn Rovers. That marked the third time in four matches they conceded twice.

Sheffield Wednesday’s target to stay in the Championship was achieved a few weeks back. Now they are only playing for a higher finish and could go as high as 11th.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last two matches, which were both played at home. The most recent ended in a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth, while the earlier 2-1 win against Middlesbrough is their only victory in eight games.

The Owls have a slightly better away record, even though they lost 2-0 to Stoke City last time out. That was their first defeat in five outings on the road.
