Watford and Preston North End, two sides separated by ten points in the Championship table, will lock horns at Vicarage Road on matchday 28. Watford are eighth in the table while Preston are 16th. Here's our match prediction. 

Watford managed to halt a five-match winless run across all competitions following a comfortable 2-0 away victory against Derby County on Saturday. 

This result came as a relief for head coach Tom Cleverley's men who had not won a Championship game since a 2-1 home triumph over Portsmouth on December 26. 

However, a return to Vicarage Road doesn't inspire much confidence. The Hornets have experienced a decline in their performance losing two consecutive matches after enjoying an 11-match unbeaten run (W9, D2).

Preston, on the other hand, is still searching for their first win in the Championship since beating Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 on the road three days after Boxing Day.

In light of that result, the Lilywhites have failed to win their last three matches (D2, L1) including a goalless draw away to Luton Town over the weekend. 

The visitors have the fourth-worst away record in the Championship. This is unsurprising for a team that has won one of their last 13 outings (D6, L6), and are winless in their last three including two losses and a solitary draw.
