Stuttering League Two leaders Walsall face a tough test against in-form Port Vale this weekend in a game that has huge ramifications on the top of the table. The Saddlers' poor form of late has seen their lead cut down to just two points with six games remaining. And the charging Valiants are one of the teams chasing them down. So, what’s our prediction for what is likely to be an enthralling match?
Walsall have long been leaders of League Two, taking a huge lead after a run of nine successive wins from December to January but since then, they have won just two of their last 15, amassing 72 points, and their lead is now down to just two points ahead of Bradford City and Port Vale. Vale lies third in the table with 70 points. Both teams have six games remaining.
Walsall are without a win in eight, but have drawn six of those games. That includes four draws in their past four games: 2-2 at Bromley, 0-0 at Gillingham, 1-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon and in midweek, a 2-2 draw away to Doncaster Rovers.
In contrast, the Valiants have won four of their last five. That includes a 1-0 away win over Crewe Alexandra last weekend and a hugely impressive 2-0 home win over second-placed Bradford City in midweek, which moved Vale right into the thick of the battle for the top spot in this division.

Our Walsall vs Port Vale Prediction
Our prediction for the Walsall vs. Port Vale League One match is: A Draw.
A couple of months ago, this game would likely not have been too significant. Now contrasting form means the winner of this match would go top of the table with just five games remaining in the season. It is a huge game for both teams and one that both managers will know that defeat would hurt their chances of finishing in the promotion places in a competitive League Two. With so many drawn games between the two teams this season, that result looks the best option here.
