Gameweek ten in the Segunda Division will see Villarreal II take on Espanyol on Monday evening. The hosts are currently in 13th place, while the visitors lead the league standings. Villarreal just about avoided the drop last term and look as though they may find themselves in a bottom-of-the-table scrap again this season. They have taken just ten points from their first nine matches of the season with a record of two wins, four draws, and three losses. The Yellow Submarine had a very poor start to the season, losing three of their first four games. However, they have been significantly better of late. Their last match ended in a 1-1 draw to Levante, and they are now unbeaten in their last five games, including four draws and a win. The hosts have been difficult to beat at home, with just one loss in four matches, along with two wins and a draw. Still, against the league leaders here, Villarreal are the clear underdogs. 

Meanwhile, Espanyol were relegated from La Liga last season but look well on their way to return to the top flight at the first time of asking. They currently league the Segunda Division with 20 points, one ahead of Real Zaragoza in second. Over their first nine games this term, the visitors have won six, drawn two, and lost just one. That loss came against Tenerife at the end of last month. Since then, Periquitos beat Racing Ferrol 3-0 and overcame Cartagena 2-0 in midweek. Espanyol are already averaging more than two goals per game, scoring 19 to date, which is five better than any other side in the league. Unsurprisingly, the visitors are heavily fancied to win this match.
