Newly promoted sides Real Valladolid and Leganes will face off in the third week of La Liga action. Hosts Valladolid have bagged three points while Leganes have claimed one more. Read on for our prediction of this match.
Valladolid’s return to the topflight has thrown them right into the deep end. They had a successful start, beating Espanyol 1-0 but not much was expected as they headed to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid. Indeed, they were thrashed, falling 3-0 to the champions.
With another tough away match at Barcelona coming right after this, Valladolid must just beat Leganes. Their last two La Liga seasons ended in relegation and the hosts will want to bank as many points as possible.
A six-game unbeaten streak against Leganes should give them confidence.
These two teams met in the Segunda last season, with both matches producing draws. In Leganes’ perspective, that was positive, having lost the earlier three matches against Valladolid.
Los Pepineros have had a solid start and remain unbeaten after two rounds. However, they haven't faced an opponent close to what Valladolid have experienced. Leganes’ season started with a 1-1 draw at Osasuna and in the second game they beat Las Palmas 2-1.
Back in the second-tier, they beat Valladolid to the title by two points even though their hosts won more matches in the league. In their last six league matches away to Valladolid, Leganes managed just one win and lost twice.
