French side USA Perpignan will welcome their Welsh counterparts Cardiff Rugby to the Stade Aimé Giral in Saturday’s Challenge Cup match. Les Sang et Or and the Blue and Blacks will be looking to fortify their playoff hopes here. Below is our prediction for the match.
USA Perpignan are still seeking their maiden win in this season’s Challenge Cup after a tough start. Franck Azéma’s men kicked off their campaign with a 20-20 draw against Cheetahs courtesy of Antoine Aucagne’s last-minute penalty.
They, however, suffered an 18-31 loss against group leaders Connacht in their backyard. Perpignan’s poor run of form has seen them win only one of their last seven games, signalling a cause for panic.
Cardiff Rugby will be looking to pick up where they left off in their last Challenge Cup clash following a victory over Cheetahs. This was a welcome victory after opening their European season with a 37-26 defeat to French side Lyon.
The two opening matches have left them with six points as they sit third on the log. Since then, Matt Sherratt’s men have picked up form, failing to lose a single game.
They managed a draw last time out against Ospreys in the United Rugby Championship.
