18th-place Union Berlin played host to 10th-placed Borussia Monchengladbach for matchday 14 of the German Bundesliga. Union Berlin put together a number of solid seasons in the Bundesliga which culminated with last season’s fourth-place finish and a Champions League qualification. Their years of overachieving results seem to have finally caught up with them this campaign as they currently find themselves bottom of the Bundesliga table. Monchengladbach are now on a run of just one defeat in their last seven which includes five victories. Their most recent appearance finished in a dramatic 1-0 home win over Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal which saw Monchengladbach grab the winner thanks to a goal in the 120th minute in extra time. The result was the third win in their last four outings as manager Gerardo Seoane finally appears to have his team playing in a nice rhythm. The visitors have also scored 17 goals in their last seven games as the attack starts to click into full gear.
