For the first time in their history, Uganda have the chance to advance to the quarter finals of the African Nations Championship. They are set to take on Ivory Coast in their final game of Group B at the competition in Algeria. Uganda will go into this game topping the group on four points while Ivory Coast have one point, at the bottom of the group. Only a point will be enough for Uganda to advance and the Eastern Africa representatives have shown they have the quality to get this done. They go into this game having beaten Senegal 1-0, for their first win in five matches. One area they’ve struggled in, however, is in attack, scoring just three goals in the last five and they’ve failed to score in three of their last five matches. Four of their last five matches have produced under 2.5 goals but they have three clean sheets in five games.

Ivory Coast come into this game needing nothing but a win to have any chances of progressing. They haven't scored a goal at this competition and thus remain winless. The West African nation is actually winless in the last three matches, losing two and comes here on a really weak footing. However, they’ve won more matches than Uganda in the last five matches – two. Ivory Coast opened their charge in this competition with a 1-0 loss to Senegal but they improved in the second to draw 0-0 with Congo DR. Ivory Coast however, had to finish their second game with 10 players, after Mohamed Zoungrana was sent off in the 87th minute and will as a result miss this game.
