A clash with title implications awaits at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday, as fourth-placed Twente host second-placed Ajax in Eredivisie Round 12. Míchel Sánchez’s side have won all five of their league away matches this season and are unbeaten in their last two league visits to Enschede, hence our prediction for the visitors to avoid defeat.
John van den Brom’s Twente are firmly in the Eredivisie title mix, sitting fourth in the standings on 23 points, two behind leaders Feyenoord. They thrashed 10-man Excelsior 9-0 on Sunday, with Wout Weghorst scoring four times, before beating Pafos 3-1 in the Conference League on Thursday.
However, Twente have struggled against Sunday’s visitors on home soil. They drew 2-2 with Ajax in November 2024 and lost 3-2 in October 2025, while their most recent home league game ended in a 2-1 defeat to Utrecht.
Ajax have responded well to a 3-1 home defeat by PSV in early September and are unbeaten in seven league matches afterwards (W5, D2). Tolu Arokodare’s ninth-minute header earned a 1-0 win over AZ last Saturday, lifting Sánchez’s side to second in the standings on 24 points.
Notably, the Amsterdam giants have been ruthless on the road, winning all five league away games and scoring 18 goals. They have also won five straight games in all competitions, including a 6-1 Conference League rout at Midtjylland on Thursday.
