A battle of the heavyweights in the Super Lig will play out this weekend as Trabzonspor prepare to host Galatasaray on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in third place in the league standings, while the visitors are second. Trabzonspor have been in good form lately. They come into this match having booked their place in the next round of the Turkish Cup by beating lower league opponents Manisa FK 3-1 at this venue in midweek. That result extended their recent run to eight matches unbeaten in all competitions. During that time, the Burgundy Blues notched up six wins and two draws. Their last league outing ended in a 1-1 draw away to Antalyaspor and took them to 37 points in 20 matches, two clear of Besiktas in fourth. At home this season, Trabzonspor have six wins, one draw, and two losses in nine games this term. However, the hosts now face an opponent that they have failed to beat in their last three attempts, losing twice and drawing once.

The Lions are on 51 points in 20 matches, 14 clear of their opponents in this match and two behind the league leaders Fenerbahce.
