The 2024/25 Premier League season comes to a close on Sunday as Tottenham face off against Brighton. Recently crowned Europa League champions Spurs are sitting 17th in the standings while the eighth-placed Seagulls are battling for European qualification. Here’s our prediction!
A point will potentially be enough for Brighton to secure themselves a spot in the Conference League, although they would still need a number of events to go their way. They would need Chelsea to both win the Conference League final against Real Betis and also finish seventh in the Premier League standings, which would then pass down their Conference League spot to eighth.
As for Tottenham, they’ve been guaranteed of their worst ever Premier League finish in history. However, the club has already completed their goal of winning the Europa League on Wednesday, thus securing their passage into the 2025/26 Champions League. Tottenham - Brighton: Form Analysis
Tottenham claimed a crucial 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final in midweek. While it certainly wasn’t a great final for the neutrals given the overall lack of quality on display, Spurs fans won’t mind in the slightest.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak across all competitions for the Lilywhites. However, Tottenham remain winless in their last six Premier League fixtures and have managed only a single victory in their last 11 league matches, eight of which ended in defeat.
Regardless of the result on Sunday, Tottenham will finish with a record low points total.
It’s been an almost unbelievably bad domestic season for Tottenham. They’ve lost 21 times in 37 league outings, a record high, and have tied their record most defeats across all competitions at 25.
As for Brighton, they’re looking to end the season on a hot run of form. They staged an impressive comeback at home against Liverpool in a 3-2 victory last weekend.
The result was the second win in a row for the Seagulls who are now unbeaten in their last four with three victories. Goals have not been a problem for Fabian Hurzeler’s side in recent outings with Brighton now having netted 13 goals in their last six appearances.

Despite winning the Europa League, speculation as to manager Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham still remains.
There’s a strong chance that the Australian manager opts to rotate some of the players that featured in the final on Wednesday. Additionally, we don’t expect the squad to be at 100% given they likely had a long celebration in Bilbao following their Europa League title.
Six players are confirmed as out for the season final. Among them are the trio of Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall, with all three players missing the Europa League final.¿
Joao Pedro’s Brighton future remains in doubt after an altercation with teammate Jan Paul van Hecke.
The Brazilian will certainly be a big miss for the visitors, as he leads the team in goal contributions in the Premier League at 16 (10 goals and six assists).
Instead, co-leading scorer Danny Welbeck will lead the line with the 34-year-old enjoying one of the most productive scoring seasons of his career. His goal against Wolves two weeks ago marked the first time that the former Manchester United and Arsenal man had struck double-digit league goals.
Welbeck also leads the team in expected goals on target (11.2) and shots on target per 90 minutes (1.0).
Ferdi Kadıoğlu, James Milner, Georginio Rutter and Solly March will all miss out for the visitors.
