The new Major League Soccer season is headed for matchday three this weekend where one of the matches will see Toronto FC host Columbus Crew on Sunday at the BMO Field. Toronto are 11th in the Eastern Conference standings with one point while Crew are eighth with three points. Toronto have drawn one and lost one of their two opening matches and seem to have not separated themselves from last season’s struggles which saw them finish with the second-worst record in the entire campaign. Their preseason showing also suggested that they would struggle this season. Their inability to hold on to a lead has been their undoing in the early stages of the new campaign. They took the lead against Atlanta United but relinquished that to draw 1-1 last time out. Before that they managed to come back from a goal down against DC United and take the lead but yet again, a lack of concentration saw them concede twice in stoppage time to lose 3-2. Bob Bradley’s men could be without the services of Adama Diomande for this one after the striker was withdrawn with injury against Atlanta as well as Lorenzo Insigne who missed the Atlanta game with injury.

Columbus Crew are faring a bit better than Toronto and come to this match after securing their first win of the season by beating DC United 2-0 at home. They started the season with a humiliating 4-1 thumping by last season’s playoff finalists Philadelphia Union and needed a response in front of their home support. They have taken the lead in each of their last two matches and can be again expected to be first off the blocks against a defence that has conceded four goals already. They travel to a ground they won last season and will also be buoyed by the fact that they have won their last three matches against Toronto. Crew have no injury concerns for this one.
