12th seed Tommy Paul is up against unseeded Pedro Martinez in the Wimbledon first round. Next up for the winner will be either Eastbourne finalist Max Purcell or qualifier Otto Virtanen. Paul is 13th in the live rankings and a place higher in the ATP Race.

The American has had a successful few weeks on grass, topped by winning the Queen's Club tournament. Paul also got to the last eight of the Libema Open. He hasn't played since that Queen's Club win.

At Wimbledon, he has twice reached the fourth round. most recently in 2023.  Last year also saw him make it to the final of the Eastbourne grass court tournament.

Pedro Martinez is 49th in the live rankings and in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time since 2021. That year saw him get to the third round but he's not won a match in this Grand Slam since then.

Last year saw him lose in the first qualifying round and he's not had a good preparation in recent weeks. He's played the Halle and Mallorca grass court events and lost in hiis first match in both tournaments.

Tommy Paul has won all three of their matches played on the ATP Tour and each in straight sets. This is their first match on grass but we tip Paul to get a straight sets win.
