It will be an all-American battle in the semi-finals at the Delray Beach Open when fourth seed Learner Tien takes on fifth seed Tommy Paul. This is their first career meeting, and the winner will play Sebastian Korda or Flavio Cobolli in the final. Below is our prediction for the match.
Tommy Paul is set to contest his third semi-final in Delray and will hope this is the week he finally gets to be crowned champion. Paul was defeated in the final in his last appearance, which was two years ago.
The 28-year-old defeated top seed Taylor Fritz, the player who defeated him in the 2024 final, in the quarter-finals in straight sets. It was the world number 24’s second 2-0 success this week and saw him improve to 10-4 to start the season.
Learner Tien continues to improve with each passing tournament. He started the season with an impressive quarter-final finish at the Australian Open and is now just two wins away from a second tour title.
The 20-year-old has won seven of 10 matches in 2026 and has now moved up to 22nd in the live ranking, a new career high. Tien has had to dig deep, though, to be amongst the last four, as he has played a decider in both of his matches.
The American has gone up against former Delray champions, defeating the defending champ Miomir Kecmanovic in his first match and then 2018 winner Frances Tiafoe.
