Fifth seed Tereza Valentova will take on eighth seed Daria Snigur as she continues a strong run in Prague this week. The two will lock horns in the semi-finals. Snigur’s last semi-final appearance on tour ended in defeat, and this prediction doesn’t look great for her.
Valentova is coming off a big win, and a massive shot in the arm as she seeks to be crowned champion on home soil. The Czech star is coming off a hard-fought showdown with reigning champion Marie Bouzkova.
In a replica of last year’s semi-final, Valentova rose from 1-0 down to win in three sets. She has thus emerged as a strong candidate for the title. Valentova, 64th in the live ranking, defeated Snigur in an ITF final in Ricany two seasons ago.
Daria Snigur is preparing to contest only her second semi-final on tour. She was unable to make her way to the final in Cluj earlier this year and will be keen to not suffer another exit at this stage.
The Ukrainian was in superb form in the quarter-finals as she made light work of her battle with Lanlana Tararudee. She allowed the Thai star just three games as she secured a quick victory in one hour and 11 minutes.
With the win, Snigur has shot up eight places in the live ranking to 46th, a new career high.
