Taylor Fritz attempts to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros for the first time. He takes on unseeded Thanasi Kokkinakis who is also yet to reach round four in this Grand Slam. Whoever wins this match will play either seventh seed Casper Ruud or 28th seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Fritz is the 12th seed and also in that position in the live rankings but tenth in the Live ATP Race. It's been an important year for the American on clay this year. In Munich, he reached his first ever clay court final but lost to Jan-Lennard Struff. Since then he made it to the last four in Madrid and the Italian Open quarter-finals. Thanasi Kokkinakis was in 100th position in the latest published ranking list. He's up to 93rd in the live rankings after reaching the third round at Roland Garros. The Australian is up to 79th in the ATP Live Race at the time of writing this article on Friday May 31. Kokkinakis is in round three for the third time in his career and the second successive year. This year has produced one clay court Challenger Tour title and also a last eight appearance in Bordeaux. It's not been so good on the ATP Tour though and this is the first time in 2024 he's made it past the first round of a clay court tournament. Round one saw him beat fellow Australian Alexei Popyrin in five sets. He had to do the same again in round two when getting a win over Giulio Zeppieri.
