Taylor Fritz has reached at least the last eight at Indian Wells in each of the past three years. The 2022 champion is seeded 12th this year and takes on 19th seed Sebastian Baez in the last 32 of this outdoor hard court Masters 1000 tournament. For the winner there's a match in the last 16 against either seventh seed Holger Rune or 26th seeded Lorenzo Musetti. Fritz won his first match in this tournament against unseeded Alejandro Tabilo winning in straight sets. He's won one outdoor hard court title this year with success in Delray Beach. He also got to the last eight at this year's Australian Open. He leads Baez 3-0 in previous meetings with two of them being achieved on an outdoor hard court. In total, his three wins have come without a set being dropped and only ten games being lost. One of the wins was at Indian Wells last year.

Sebastian Baez is unbeaten in his last ten matches. He won clay court tournaments in Santiago and Rio before returning to hard courts. He has shown form on this surface though and is in the third round for the second successive year. He also got to round three at this year's Australian Open and it took eventual champion Jannik Sinner to beat him. Round two of this tournament saw him beat Fabio Fognini in straight sets though he was 3-1 down in the first set. We tip Fritz to win this in straight sets.
