Fourth seed Taylor Fritz opens his Cinch Championships campaign with a first round match against qualifier Taro Daniel. In round two, the winner of this match will be up against either Milos Raonic or Cameron Norrie. Fritz is the world number 12 but a place higher in the Live Race. The American is playing his first grass court tournament of the year. One grass court quarter-final was reached in 2023 but he didn't win two matches in any of his four tournaments. This is his fourth time at Queen's Club but he's yet to reach the last eight. He has had success on this surface though, winning in Eastbourne in both 2019 and 2022. This year has seen him win a hard court title and reach his first clay final.

Taro Daniel is 85th in the latest rankings but up six places in the live list. The Japanese player had to qualify to get into this main draw. He ran into problems in his first match against Arthur Cazaux losing the first set. He recovered to win both the next two 6-4. Little did he know that would take him into the first round as his next opponent was Thanasi Kokkinakis who withdrew from the tournament. Daniel has played at Wimbledon on seven occasions and is yet to reach round two. This is his first grass court tournament of the year. 2024 began well with a run to the final of the Auckland hard court tournament but he's not made it past the last 16 since. Two previous visits to Queen's Club have both seen him lose in the first qualifying round. We tip Fritz to win this in straight sets.
