The 22-27-2 Ottawa Senators are on the road early on Tuesday morning to take on the 30-21-5 Tampa Bay Lightning. An eight-game win streak at home came to a crashing halt for the Lightning last time out in the battle of Florida. They took the lead on the Panthers within the first minute but then shipped the next nine goals straight before things got out of control in the final period of a game where both teams ended up with 90 minutes of penalties each. They will be desperate to put that behind them and get back in the win column and this is a great opportunity to win in front of their fans. They have the 4th most goals in the league this season with Nikita Kucherov continuing to excel as their main talisman. In the 2018/19 season, he had a career-high of 128 points, currently on track for 140 this season, leading the league. Their issues lay at the back, only five teams have conceded more goals and their netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy is having the worst year of his career. He had not finished a season with a save percentage of less than .910, dropping below .900 after the Panthers game. 

Every player on the ice for both the Lightning and Panthers got a 10-minute misconduct in the third period the other night, something that happened when the Panthers met the Senators back in November so Ottawa is used to the rough stuff. The Sens began 2024 with a five-game road trip, losing each game but they had won three straight on the road prior to a 2-3 defeat in Chicago against the Blackhawks when they last played. They head to Sunrise to take on the Panthers the day after this game so that should be fireworks again and well worth watching. The Sens have done well this season drawing penalties with a +22 compared to those they have taken but they have not been able to gain any advantage from those, scoring on just 16.1 of their power play opportunities.
