Matchday 24 of 29 in the A-League brings us a top-half clash between FC Sydney and Melbourne City at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday. The Sky Blues are seventh in the league standings, while the Hearts are fourth after 20 games. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Sydney FC have been dropping points with unwanted regularity in recent weeks and will need to find a run of results if they are to finish in the top six in the league standings this season.
The Sky Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Wellington Phoenix in their last match. While that was their fifth game unbeaten, it was their third draw in that time, one of which was against basement club Perth Glory.
The hosts have played out stalemates in their last two home games as well, but the one positive is that they have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 10 league matches at Allianz Stadium.
Meanwhile, Melbourne City were forced to move down a spot in the league standings in their last match when they were beaten 1-0 by the Newcastle Jets at home before the international break.
That result brought an end to a four-match unbeaten streak for the Hearts, but it was also the fourth defeat that they have suffered in their last eight top-flight matches (W3 D1 L4).
The visitors will now head on the road, where they have been very poor of late. In their last seven outings, they have managed only a single victory, while losing three and drawing three of the remaining seven games in that time.

Our Sydney vs Melbourne City Prediction
FC Sydney have underperformed by their own standards this season, but they have been tough to beat, particularly on their home patch, where they’ve only lost once since the turn of the calendar.
Melbourne City may have the advantage in the league standings, but their away record has been dismal in recent times, and we feel that they may struggle to beat the high-scoring Sydney on their home ground. Our Sydney FC vs Melbourne City prediction is FC Sydney draw no bet.
