This Saturday, Sydney FC and Adelaide United will lock horns at Allianz Stadium on matchday 17 in the A-League. These are two sides at opposite ends of the table with Sydney occupying seventh place in the league standings and Adelaide United comfortably perched in second. Let's head into the match prediction.

Last week, Sydney FC was outdone 2-0 by title-chasing Melbourne Victory on the road. This was their second consecutive league defeat and third match without a win.

The Sky Blues come into this match seeking to halt that winless run and judging by their home record this season, a win here can be achievable. They've won three of their last four matches and were on a three-match winning streak before their defeat to Brisbane Roar.

Adelaide United can prove to be tough opponents for Sydney FC, having avoided defeat in their last four A-League games recording three wins and a solitary draw.

In their recent outing, the Reds were held to a 2-2 draw against league leaders Auckland FC at home. While this result kept their unbeaten run in the league intact, it also hurt their chances of catching up to their opponents in the standings.
