Middlesbrough will target a win over Swansea in a matchday 36 meeting as they look to maintain their playoff push in the Championship. This match on Saturday at the Swansea.com Stadium between the 16th-placed Swans and the ninth-placed Boro comes with our prediction of over 2.5 goals.

A tally of 50 points puts Middlesbrough only two behind the top six teams, while Swansea’s 41 points gives them a buffer of ten points over the relegation zone.

Swansea played out a dull 0-0 draw away at Preston on Tuesday to make it four points from their last two matches. That is impressive tidings, but a run of seven defeats over the last ten competitive matches put them in a tight spot. Adding more anxiety is their recent form at this venue, as Swansea lost three of their four recent home games.

Middlesbrough edged Derby 1-0 last weekend to make it consecutive wins. Those results eased the pressure a bit after a run of five defeats on the bounce threatened to derail their playoff ambitions. The visitors are still chasers, but a win here coupled with some favourable results elsewhere could see them jump back into the top six. Away form remains a challenge, though, as Middlesbrough lost four of their last five trips.
