Stellenbosch will look to move back into the top three places in the PSL when they play host to Chippa United on Friday evening. The hosts are currently in fourth place in the league standings, while the visitors are 12th. Stellenbosh will head into this match with confidence after booking their spot in the Round of 16 in the Nedbank Cup with a win over lower league outfit Pretoria Callies last week. That result followed a 1-1 draw against Supersport United in the league a week earlier, which took them to 27 points after 16 matches, trailing Matsansantsa by three points, though they have played one game less than the sides in second and third. At home, Stellies are riding a three-match winning streak in league games and have taken 12 points from a possible 21 so far this season (W4 D0 L3). The hosts are unbeaten in their last four encounters against this opponent (W2 D2 L0) and are the favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, Chippa United also come into this match off the back of a Nedbank Cup victory, where they beat NC Pros 2-1 over the weekend. That followed a 1-1 draw to Cape Town City in the league a week earlier, marking their third consecutive PSL match without victory, following back-to-back defeats agaisnt Polokwane City and TS Galaxy before the international break. The Chilli Boys have struggled on the road this season and are currently on a three-match losing streak on the road in league games and winless in four. They have taken just seven points from a possible 21 away from home this term. While Chippa have failed to beat this opponent in their last four attempts, they did hold them to a stalemate in the reverse fixture back in November and will likely be the happier of these sides if this one ends level as well.
